Register now for Charles Biddle Award
Registration is open for the 2nd Charles Biddle Award, created in memory of the great American-born, Montreal-based jazz bassist who died in 2003. The Charles Biddle Award highlights the exceptional contribution of an individual who immigrated to Quebec and whose personal or professional engagement is contributing or has contributed to Quebec's cultural and artistic development on the national or international scene.
The award, which comes with a $2,000 cash prize, will be presented by the Ministry of Immigration and Cultural Communities in partnership with Culture pour tous, a non-profit organization dedicated to the democratization of culture in Quebec, during the Journées de la culture in September 2012.
The recipient of the Charles Biddle Award will be selected by a jury of well-known personalities on the arts and culture scene with a representative from the Ministry of Immigration and Cultural Communities.
Registrations are welcome from people who have immigrated to Quebec, where they now reside and have spent most of their career. Both registrations by the candidates themselves or nominations from third parties are accepted. In the latter case, the written consent of the nominee is required. Posthumous nominations will not be considered.
The award recognizes the efforts and contribution of an individual who through his or her achievements is a successful role model not only in his or her own field, but for Quebec society as a whole. For full details and registrations, please visit the Charles Biddle Award site
