Changes to cable distribution |
Changes have been made to SOCAN's domestic cable methodology. We are now able to align station weights in direct proportion to licence fees. As previously reported, for 2011 distributions (2Q10 – 1Q11) station weights were based 50% on Bureau of Broadcast Measurement (BBM)viewership statistics and 50% on weights tied to licensing revenues. For 2012 distributions and beyond, starting with the February 2012 distribution, weighting will be aligned 100% with licensing revenues. For more information, please contact SOCAN.

Music publishers granted access to CIS-Net AVI |
Music publishers have been granted access to the CIS-Net AVI (Common Information System [Net] Audio Visual Index), an international database supported by CISAC, the international confederation of performing rights organizations (PROs). The CIS-Net AVI provides a system by which to request and obtain cue sheet information from PROs in other countries (the "source" PROs) quickly and efficiently. Once music publishers are using the CIS-Net AVI, the hope is that they'll be able to identify instances where they have additional information (e.g., alternate titles, ISAN, the International Standard Audiovisual Number) that will make it easier to locate the source PRO for the cue sheet.
