SOCAN members receive royalties when their music is performed in Canada and around the world. It's easy to become a member. If you're a songwriter, composer, lyricist, or music publisher, read our criteria to see if you qualify.
For those music creators (composers, songwriters or lyricists) who apply online, membership is free.
There is a one-time membership fee of $50 (plus applicable taxes), and you can apply online. That’s the only fee, and if you incorporate, amalgamate, change your name or make any other changes, you don’t have to re-register or pay another fee. Just let us know of the change and we’ll take care of the rest.
