Music Improves Your Bottom Line
Is there a way to encourage more than a third of your restaurant customers to pay 5% more in your establishment? Want to improve productivity among 77% of your staff? That’s simple. Add music!
A recent study commisioned by PRS for Music (the copyright collective of Great Britain) reveals some very impressive facts that we would like to share with you:
Among those surveyed:
80% of people say they like to hear background music when they dine out.
78% say a restaurant that plays good background music helps them relax.
74% say that playing good background music means they are more likely to enjoy their meal.
71% say they feel more romantic when good background music is being played.
Playing good background music in a restaurant can impact customer behaviour:
56% say they are much more likely to recommend a restaurant that plays background music they like
64% say good background music at a restaurant encourages them to stay there longer.
67% say it would make them more likely to revisit the restaurant.
As early as the ‘80’s, researcher Ronald Milliman, of the University of Western Kentucky found that a fast tempo caused diners to finish faster (45 minutes vs. 56) but with a medium tempo, diners ordered 3.04 more drinks. And that goes directly to the bottom line.
