SOCAN member & industry relations executive Wayne Saunders attended the annual Alberta Hotel & Lodging Association (AHLA) convention and trade show on April 6-7 in Lake Louise, Alberta.
The convention uses a "passport" system, which means all delegates must visit each booth and receive a stamp to be eligible for the numerous prize draws at the show's end. That being the case, almost all of the delegates (about 250) visited the SOCAN booth. Most were already SOCAN customers, but others wanted info on what SOCAN does, and the booth generated several solid leads that require new licensing. Saunders also spoke with AHLA board member Michael Mazepa, and president Dave Kaiser.
Each booth must supply a gift worth $50 or more as a prize for the trade show. SOCAN supplied an AM/FM radio cooler and a festival blanket, and this year's winner of our prize was Paulette Bast of the Western Budget Motor Hotel in Grande Prairie, Alberta.
