Composer John Estacio won the SOCAN-sponsored award for Best Original Musical Score – Drama at the 34th annual Alberta Film & Television Awards in Edmonton on April 26, 2008. Estacio was honoured for his score for The Secret Of The Nutcracker, while the winner of the Best Original Musical Score – Non-Fiction (which SOCAN didn’t sponsor) went to Mike Shields for Fish Out Of Water.

The awards, presented by the Alberta Motion Picture Industries Association (AMPIA), were attended by such notable SOCAN film and TV composer members as Bruce Leitl, Alec Harrison and Beau Shiminsky, as well as SOCAN representatives Sara Pavilionis and Wayne Saunders.
