SOCAN built bridges to businesses requiring a SOCAN licence at the 2008 edition of ApEx, Atlantic Canada’s largest foodservice and hospitality trade show, held April 27-29 at the Moncton Coliseum Complex in Moncton, N.B.
SOCAN representatives Tim Hardy (Member & Industry Relations Executive) and Erica Gallant (Business Development Representative) helped establish new relationships and renew existing ones with various hotel and restaurant associations, provincial tourism industry associations and chambers of commerce.
Manning the SOCAN trade show booth, Hardy and Gallant spoke with bar, restaurant and hotel owners, as well as songwriter members, about a variety of issues regarding SOCAN licensing – including the development of Tariff 22 (“the internet tariff”) and how SOCAN’s new industry relations operate. Conversation was very positive, with the usual parting comment being, “We’re glad to see you guys out at events like this.” Hardy and Gallant also gave away a SOCAN sweatshirt each day of the trade show, in a daily prize draw.
The event was consistently busy all three days, and attendees were very happy to have it in Moncton – this being the first time it’s moved outside of Halifax.
If you’re using music in your business, find out if you need a licence or become a customera in order to obtain one.
