Quebec composer Jean-Olivier Bégin wins College Emmy Award

The young Canadian composer Jean-Olivier Bégin, a SOCAN member, has received a College Emmy Award in the Best Composition category for the original music of Operated by Invisible Hands, a short film written and directed by Nicole Brending. The presentation was made March 15, 2008, in Los Angeles before representatives of the American motion picture industry.


Jean-Olivier Bégin completed a B.A. in Music at McGill University in 2005, and a Masters Degree at the Manhattan School of Music in 2007. An accomplished jazz trombonist, Bégin created his award-winning music as a student in New York City. He has received scholarships from the Canada Council and the Conseil des arts du Québec
