SOCAN presents Francophone No. 1 Awards

SOCAN proudly presented No. 1 Awards to a large group of Francophone songwriter and publisher members on Dec. 1, 2008. Held in the Québécor Café of the Monument National Theatre, the Montreal ceremony was held in celebration of songs having reached the No. 1 position on the BDS charts in the past year.


SOCAN president Pierre-Daniel Rheault, Quebec member service manager Joanne Pouliot, and a number of other SOCAN employees attended the presentation. The following songwriters and music publishers received No. 1 Award plaques:


  • Justine Laberge and David Bussières for "Les jours de pluie" and "Lever l'ancre," performed by Alfa Rococo and published by Les Éditions Tacca enr.
  • Steve Veilleux for "L'amour du jour," performed by Kaïn and published by Éditions LLP.
  • Marc Dupré, Sébastien Daigle, Sophie Nault and Paule Tremblay for "Sans toi," performed by Marc Dupré and published by Avenue Éditorial and Éditions Dama inc.
  • Marc Dupré, Marie-Mai and Jean-François Breau for "Si pour te plaire," performed by Marc Dupré, and published by Éditions Dama inc. and Macadef inc.
  • Anik Jean and Jean-Sébastien Chouinard for "Oh mon chéri," published by La Muse verte and Les Éditions Tacca enr., and performed by Anik Jean.
  • Boom Desjardins for "Un peu pressé," performed by himself.
  • Ariane Moffatt for "Je veux tout," performed by herself and published by Éditions Mo'Fat.
  • Steve Veilleux for "Pleine Lune," performed by Marie-Luce Béland and published by Éditions LLP.
  • Éric Lapointe, Louise Forestier and Daniel Lavoie for "1500 miles," published by Éditions OK enr. and Marmalou Musique inc., and performed by Éric Lapointe.
  • Jean-François Pauzé, Jérôme Dupras and Marie-Annick Lépine for "Entre deux taxis," published by JFP Éditions inc. and Éditions La Tribu, and performed by Les Cowboys Fringants.
