SOCAN was pleased to honour the four members of Hedley with a No. 1 Song Award for their song “She’s So Sorry,” which reached the top spot on MuchMusic's Countdown chart on Dec. 13, 2007.
SOCAN’s Lynn Ross DeViller presented the No. 1 Award plaques to Hedley’s Jacob Hoggard, Dave Rosin, Tom MacDonald and Chris Crippin backstage at Vancouver’s Commodore Ballroom just before their performance on Jan. 19, 2008. Producer Brian Howes, who co-wrote the song with the band, was unable to attend the presentation. The song is published by High Buck Publishing, Universal Music Publishing Canada and EMI Blackwood Music Ltd. Canada.
At the same time, Universal Music Canada also presented a Platinum Album award to Hedley for their second release, Famous Last Words, recognizing sales of more than 100,000 units.
Said Hedley frontman Jacob Hoggard: “It means a lot to us that people are working as hard for us as we’re working for them.”
Both SOCAN and Universal Music personnel honoured Hedley, in the company of 20-odd friends and family of the band, including their manager Darren Gilmour (of Watchdog Management), songwriter Dane DeViller (co-writer of two Hedley songs) and Garth Richardson (who produced Hedley’s first album).
