SOCAN members win musical LEO Awards 2008

SOCAN was a proud corporate sponsor of the 10th annual LEO Awards celebrating excellence in British Columbia film and television. The awards were presented May 23-24, 2008, at the Westin Bayshore Resort & Marina in Vancouver, and our members walked away with several musical honours. SOCAN congratulates all of our composer nominees and award winners.
Prizes were awarded as follows:
- Best Musical Score in a Dramatic Series to John Sereda and Paul Michael Thomas for Painkiller Jane – “Catch Me if You Can”
- Best Musical Score in a Feature Length Drama to Terry Frewer for Elijah
- Best Musical Score in a Short Drama to Teresa Connors for Dog Boy
- Best Musical Score in a Documentary Program or Series to Daniel Séguin for The Suicide Tourist
- Best Musical Score in a Music, Comedy or Variety Program or Series to Hal Foxton Beckett and Daniel Ingram for About a Girl – “About a Job”
- Best Musical Score in an Animation Program or Series to Michael Richard Plowman for Jibber Jabber – “Race to the Red Planet”
The LEO Awards offered an excellent opportunity for SOCAN members who work in film and television to celebrate their accomplishments and network with producers, directors and local industry players. Other SOCAN members in attendance included Tim McCauley, Peter Allen, Dennis Burke, Shari Ulrich, Ari Wise and Chris Ainscough. SOCAN staff in attendance included Kent Sturgeon, France Lafleur, Lynn Ross DeViller, Pat Mueller and Sara Pavilionis.
