SOCAN took part in the ninth annual song and comedy festival Le Tremplin in Dégelis, Que, held May 11-18, 2008. SOCAN presented an information workshop on Saturday, May 12 and the SOCAN Best Song Award as part of the May 18 Gala. SOCAN member Marc Chabot and SOCAN education outreach specialist Stéphanie Falco co-presented the award and a $1,000 cash prize to Faubert, from Montreal, for "Cancer planétaire." In presenting the award, Chabot made an inspired and poetic speech about music, respect for copyright and SOCAN's role.

Falco was also a member of the finals jury, along with Coup de coeur francophone manager Alain Chartrand, Noir Silence's Samuel Busque, singer-songwriter Maude and Annick Charrette, representing festival sponsor Télé-Québec. The winner in the singer-songwriter category was François Lévesque, from Laval, Que. "The Festival was very successful," Falco reported, "with high calibre artists, impeccable organization, and sunny weather to boot."
