Roger Lord wins New Brunswick Arts Board Award
The Moncton concert pianist Roger Lord has won a $5,000 cash prize from the New Brunswick Arts Board’s Excellence in the Arts Awards for the performing arts. An internationally-known performer and composer, the SOCAN member has received the 2008 André Thadée Bourque and Louise Manny Bourque Award for excellence in music.
Roger Lord has performed as a soloist with North and South American, European and Asian symphony orchestras. Dubbed "the Prince of Canadian piano" by the China Daily, he has played in such prestigious venues as the Great Hall of the People to the west of Tian'anmen Square, the Concert Hall of Beijing's Forbidden City, Buenos Aires' Teatro Colón, and Cairo's Opera House. He studied at the University of Moncton, McGill University and the University of Montreal as well as in Paris and Strasbourg, France, and has also attended special sessions at the Moscow Piano Institute in Russia at the Gnessin Music Academy.
