Nickelback’s Chad and Mike Kroeger took time out from recording the band’s upcoming album to accept several SOCAN No. 1 Song Awards presented to them by SOCAN's Lynn Ross DeViller and Aidyl Jago. The other Nickelback members, Ryan Peake and Daniel Adair, also received awards, but were unable to attend the presentation, which took place on May 29, 2008, at Mountainview Studios in Abbotsford, B.C.
The members of Nickelback were honoured with No. 1 Song Awards for their hit "Rock Star," which reached the peak of MuchMoreMusic's Countdown Chart on Oct. 12, 2007; and for "If Everyone Cared," which topped the same chart throughout March and April 2007, as well as Billboard magazine's Hot Adult Top 40 Tracks chart in May and June 2007.
Chad Kroeger was also presented with No. 1 Song Awards for his hits "Into the Night," which he recorded with Santana – and which reached the summit of the Nielsen BDS Top 100 Chart, MuchMoreMusic's Countdown Chart and the Nielsen Hot AC Chart in November and December 2007 – as well as "Tongue Tied," recorded by Faber Drive, which reached the number one spot on MuchMusic's Countdown chart on Nov. 29, 2007.
"Into the Night" and "Tongue Tied" are published by Anaesthetic Publishing and Warner Tamerlane Publishing Co. "Rock Star" and "If Everyone Cared" are published by Arm Your Dillo Publishing Inc., Black Diesel Music Inc., Warner Tamerlane Publishing Co. and Zero G Music Inc.
Both Kroeger brothers expressed great gratitude for the awards, thanking SOCAN for taking the time and making the effort to present the honours at their studio in rural British Columbia.
