SOCAN announces new Board of Directors for 2009-2012

On June 16, 2009, SOCAN was pleased to announce, at its Annual General Meeting, the members of its new Board of Directors for the years 2009 through 2012. SOCAN's members elect a new Board of Directors every three years. Voting to elect the Board for the 2009-2012 term took place between April 15 and May 13, 2009.The Board consists of 18 Directors – nine Writer Members and nine Publisher Members -- representing the East, the West and Quebec. Six Directors must be Francophone and three must represent New Classical Music.


Heading the Board as President is Earl Rosen, owner of publishing company De Sade Songs and the classical and jazz record label Marquis. Mr. Rosen has already served on SOCAN’s Board of Directors for nine years, including three as President.


Other officers of the Board include Gilles Valiquette as first Vice-Chair, Gary Furniss as second Vice-Chair, Rosaire Archambault as Secretary, Stan Meissner as Treasurer and Pierre-Daniel Rheault as Outgoing President.


The new Board of Directors is constituted as follows:


Writer Board Members:
Victor Davies, Bill Henderson, Stan Meissner, Ben Mink, Glenn Morley, Marc Ouellette, Pierre-Daniel Rheault, Gilles Valiquette and Jim Vallance


Publisher Board Members:
Edmund L. Glinert (Casablanca Music Publishing Inc.), Carol Ryan (Créations Méandres Inc.), Earl Rosen (De Sade Songs), Rosaire Archambault (Editorial Avenue), Michael McCarty (ole), Geneviève Côté (Frilance Édition Inc.), Craig Horton (Nettwerk Music Publishing), Gary Furniss (Sony / ATV Music Publishing Canada) and Jodie Ferneyhough (Universal Music Publishing Canada)
