SOCAN members take Gemini Awards

Michael Richard Plowman was the big winner in the music categories at the 2009 Gemini Awards, capturing nods in the categories of Best Original Music Score for an Animated Program for Jibber Jabber: Race to the Red Planet/Pride of Frankenstein and Best Original Music Score for a Dramatic Program, Mini-Series or TV Movie for Impact. Michael O’Neill won a Gemini in the category of Best Original Music for a Lifestyle/Practical Information or Reality Program or Series for French Food at Home II: French Food Desserts; Daniel Séguin won in the Best Original Music Score for a Documentary Program or Series for The Wild Horse Redemption; and Rob Carli won in the Best Original Music Score for a Program or Series for Murdoch Mysteries: Werewolves.


Awards in the above categories were presented Oct. 19 and 20 at The Sound Academy in Toronto, during pre-show Industry Gala events. The 24th annual Gemini Awards broadcast gala will be held Nov. 14 at the BMO Centre, Stampede Corral, in Calgary, broadcast live on the Global and Showcase TV networks, featuring host Ron James. The Geminis, presented by the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television, honour outstanding achievements in the Canadian English-language TV industry.
