Julie Fournier, a singer-songwriter from Drummondville, Quebec, was presented with the SOCAN Best Song Award as part of the Prix Étoiles Galaxie competition of the 2009 Festival Western de St-Tite. She received the $1,000 prize for her song "Party de filles" ("Girls’ Party") from SOCAN’s Stéphanie Falco, who also presented a workshop for contest participants.
Besides her SOCAN award, Fournier also won first prize in the country pop/rock/folk category while Sherbrooke’s Patricia Tellier took the same honour in the traditional western category.
