Register now for PMPA music publishing mentorship for emerging songwriters
This spring, the Professional Music Publishers Association (PMPA) will present a two-component music publishing training activity in Montreal for emerging songwriters.
Event Description: Finding the right music publisher is a major career step for many songwriters. How do you go about identifying the publishers that are best suited to your original catalogue? How do you prepare yourself? Should you be expecting a response? If yes, how soon? The PMPA will answer all these questions and more in a two-component training activity including:
- A training session in the form of a lecture explaining the roles and functions of music publishers and what they're looking for when they listen to a songwriter’s demo. Trainer: Daniel Lafrance, General Manager, Éditorial Avenue.
- A one-on-one mentorship session where songwriters who have completed the first component will have an opportunity to chat with two publishers of their own choice (out of a list of five names) for two successive 20-minute meetings. Mentors: Pierre-Luc Durand, President, Éditions Tacca; Mary Catherine Harris, Marketing and Administration, Third Side Music; Guillaume Lafrance, Creation and Licensing, Éditorial Avenue; and Guillaume Lombart, President, Ad Litteram.
Location: Centre St-Pierre, 1212 Panet Street, Montreal (Beaudry subway station)
Dates and times: Component 1 – Thursday, April 8, from 6 :00 p.m. to 8 :00 p.m.; Component 2 – Monday, April 26, between 6 :00 p.m. and 10 :00 p.m. (times will vary for each one-on-one session)
Cost: $45.15 ($40.00 plus taxes) for both sessions. Note: Pre-registration is mandatory; all training will be provided in French.
