Mike Shields won the SOCAN-sponsored honour for Best Original Musical Score – Drama at the 36th annual Alberta Motion Picture Industries Association (AMPIA) Awards (also known as the Rosies), held May 15, 2010, at Northland’s AgriCom in Edmonton. SOCAN member & industry relations executive Wayne Saunders presented Shields with the award, honouring his score to the film Tucker & Dale vs. Evil, produced by Urban Island.

Best Original Musical Score – Non-Fiction was awarded posthumously to Bruce Leitl for his work on World Cup South Africa – Gumboot Dance, produced by Six Degrees. Leitl's business partners accepted the award on his behalf.

The awards were hosted by Jill Belland (CityTV Calgary) and Mark Connolly (CBC-TV Edmonton), with music provided by DJ Nitro. SOCAN members in attendance included Shields, Russell Broom, Dewi Wood and Mitch Lee. In addition to Wayne Saunders, SOCAN's Sara Pavilionis and Terra Peevey were also in attendance.
