SOCAN member & industry relations executive Tim Hardy connected with a wide range of SOCAN customers and potential customers at the Hospitality Newfoundland & Labrador (HNL) Lookout! Tourism Summit 2010, held Feb. 18-21 in Gander, NL. The summit hosts a full schedule of speakers and sessions that give hospitality industry operators the opportunity to focus on how they can grow their business.
While manning the SOCAN booth during the trade show at the Gander Community Centre, Hardy met with representatives from many Newfoundland tourism operators (such as hotels, bed-and-breakfast establishments and festivals). He also met with decision-makers from associations such as Cruise Newfoundland & Labrador, the Destination Cape Breton Association, Canada Business - Newfoundland & Labrador and Golf Newfoundland & Labrador, along with several SOCAN songwriter members.
SOCAN gave away two prizes at the trade show, which were won by Harold Pennell from the Northwest Bed & Breakfast and David Adams from the Tickle Inn at Cape Onion. Hardy also presented a SOCAN workshop to the delegates on Feb. 18 at the Albatross Hotel, providing a full room with information about copyright, SOCAN licensing and the SOCAN Foundation.
The conference ended with the Tourism Excellence Awards Gala at the Hotel Gander, where entertainment for the evening was provided by SOCAN member Dana Parsons.
