Kal Hourd and Deanna Harper won the SOCAN-sponsored Song of the Year honours, for "Beautiful Sound," at the 2010 Saskatchewan Country Music Association Awards (SCMAs), held April 17-18 in Regina.

The same song also earned Hourd the Single of the Year award, while his album Haven't Even Met Yet won Album of the Year. The triple honours made Hourd the biggest single winner at the awards, followed by Codie Prevost with two trophies, for Male Vocalist and Fan's Choice Entertainer of the Year. (Although the Codie Prevost Band won Backup Band of the Year, and Prevost's manager Al Leblanc won Manager of the Year in the industry award categories.)

As part of the awards weekend activities, SOCAN's Wayne Saunders presented a "SOCAN 101" info session, a well-attended event which offered SOCAN members and soon-to-be-members useful information about copyright issues, distribution and membership eligibility.
