Composer and SOCAN member Steve Barakatt has been a UNICEF Canada Ambassador (along with his wife, ex-Cirque du Soleil artist Elena Grosheva) since 2007. The Quebec City musician recently provided the organization with its new international anthem, Lullaby: The UNICEF Anthem (you can watch the video on YouTube), recorded with contributions from international stars Nana Mouskouri, Angélique Kidjo and Helmut Lotti. Barakatt and his wife have participated in many fundraising events on behalf of UNICEF, a permanent arm of the United Nations created to address the plight of children in Asia, Africa, the Middle East and Latin America.

Barakatt, whose music is being performed all over the world, is currently on a tour that will take him to Korea, Japan and Russia. Other SOCAN members who've been involved with UNICEF Canada include Corneille, Marie-Mai and Stéphanie Lapointe.
