Cédric Vienno was presented with the SOCAN Best Song Award July 31, 2010, at the 42nd annual Gala de la chanson de Caraquet, N.B., for his song “Forêt noir pétrole” (“Oil Black Forest”). The Shippagan, N.B., singer-songwriter received his award from Gala spokesperson Christian “Kit” Goguen. The winner in the Singer-Songwriter category was Stéphane Hébert from Petit-Rocher, N.B.

Goguen and fellow artists Sandra Le Couteur and Nicolas Basque performed Vienno’s winning song during the show, which was hosted by actor Diane Losier.

Relationship Specialist Stéphanie Falco, from the Montreal SOCAN office, presented an information session for all 2019 contestants earlier in the day, along with Mario Chenart, representing SPACQ. Actor and Union des Artists (UDA) President Raymond Legault was also on hand for a session on Artisti/UDA. All 2010 finalists had the opportunity to attend training workshops led by SOCAN members Nelson Minville, Isabelle Thériault, Jean-François Breau and Jesse Mea.

Once again this year, the Gala de la chanson de Caraquet, Francophone Acadian artists' premier showcase and springboard, was presented at Carrefour de la mer, on the Caraquet Bay. For more information on the event, please visit the Gala website.
