Vivianne Roy wins SOCAN Best Song Award at Caraquet song competition
Vivianne Roy won the SOCAN Best Song Award, presented on July 31, 2011, as part of the 43rd annual Gala de la chanson de Caraquet, Atlantic Canada’s premier showcase and springboard for Francophone songwriters and performers. She received her prize from SOCAN member Danny Boudreau for her song “Je n'serai plus une enfant” (“I Won’t Be A Child Any More”). Other winners included Alain Comeau, who received first prize in the Singer-Songwriter category, and Julie Aubé, who was the jury choice for a spot in ChantEauFête de Charlevoix, an annual music festival presented in Quebec’s North Shore region.
Held once again in Caraquet’s Carrefour de la Mer entertainment complex, this year’s gala event was co-hosted by Michel Thériault and Annie Blanchard under the artistic direction of Jean-François Breau and Marie-Ève Janvier. SOCAN Montreal Office Relationship Specialist Stéphanie Falco presented a morning-long info session for 2011 contestants on July 31 along with SPACQ and SODRAC representative Mario Chenart, and Union des artistes and Artisti delegate Raymond Legault.
