Singer-songwriter and SOCAN member Alexandre Désilets received the 2009 Félix Leclerc Song Award as part of the 21st annual FrancoFolies de Montréal music festival. Created in 1996 to foster creative development and exchanges between emerging Francophone Quebec and French talents from both sides of the Atlantic, the award is presented to one Quebec and one French singer-songwriter (this year, Alexis HK) who both receive a $2,500 cash award from the Félix Leclerc Foundation and a spot at the Alors... Chante! festival in Montauban, France.

Known for his airy music, heady voice and accomplished first album, Escalader l’ivresse, Alexandre Désilets was delighted to have this opportunity to perform in France for the first time. The nine other Quebec artists or groups who received honourable mentions at the 14th Félix Leclerc Song Awards were Cœur de pirate, Alfa Rococo, Marie-Pierre Arthur, Steve Marin, Patrick Pleau, Carl-Éric Hudon, Guillaume Arsenault, Antoine Gratton and Geneviève Jodoin.
