Chloé Lacasse wins SOCAN Award at 2011 Francouvertes

SOCAN member Chloé Lacasse won the SOCAN Best Song Award for “Je voudrais l’être” ("I’d Love to Be So") on Apr. 13, 2011, as part of the third and last semi-final of the 15th annual Francouvertes song competition in Montreal’s Lion d’Or hall. The finals of the competition will be contested May 3, 2011, at Club Soda, pitting Lacasse against the winners of the previous two semi-finals, Karim Ouellette and the band Canailles.
SOCAN and jury member Alexandre Belliard presented the award top lacasse, emphasizing SOCAN’s role as a protector of songwriters and an advocate of copyright. Also in attendance was SOCAN Education & Outreach Specialist Stéphanie Falco, who was a jury member for all three semi-finals.
