On Sept. 12, 2009, singer-songwriter Salomé Leclerc received the SOCAN Best Song Award for "Je tomberai" ("I’ll Be Falling") as part of the 41st annual Granby International Song Festival. This year’s invited guest, SOCAN member Martin Léon, presented the winner with the $1,000 cash prize at the end of the competition’s fourth set of finals at the Granby Palace.

Besides its Best Song Award, SOCAN also supports the festival by sponsoring the Carrefour chanson SOCAN, a series of training sessions for contest finalists that was held this year between Aug. 31 and Sept. 12. SOCAN Training and Industry Relations Specialist Stéphanie Falco hosted a training session on Friday Sept. 4, and also attended the SOCAN Award presentation. The finals of the 2009 Granby Song Festival are held Sept. 19 at a gala presentation featuring this year’s spokesperson, the popular singer-songwriter Daniel Boucher.
