SOCAN was pleased to honour Justin Nozuka for co-writing his hit song “Heartless (La Promesse)” which topped Québec's francophone Palmarès BDS chart Nov. 8, 2010.

Jodie Ferneyhough, from SOCAN's Board of Directors, presented SOCAN members Nozuka and co-writer Kristen Charlesworth, as well as Barb Sedun of EMI Music Publishing, with their No. 1 Award plaques on March 17, 2011, at Sassafraz restaurant in downtown Toronto's fashionable Yorkville district. A third co-writer, and featured performer on the recording, Zehira "Zaho" Darabid, will be recognized with a plaque in Montreal later this year.

SOCAN's Jason Belo, Peter Fera, Ted Seto, Vicki Walters, and Irene Zeltway also attended the presentation, as did many of the artist's friends, family and bandmembers. “Heartless (La Promesse)” is published by SOCAN publisher members EMI Blackwood Music Canada Ltd. and Golden Train Music.
