SOCAN was a proud corporate sponsor of the 12th annual LEO Awards celebrating excellence in British Columbia film and television. The awards were presented June 4-5, 2010, at the Westin Bayshore Resort & Marina in Vancouver, and our members walked away with several musical honours.
Prizes were awarded as follows:
• Best Musical Score in a Feature Length Drama to Ben Mink for Alice
• Best Musical Score in a Short Drama to Matthew Rogers for The Gray Matter
• Best Musical Score in a Documentary Program or Series to Dan Sorce Gagnon for Wood If
• Best Musical Score in an Animation Program or Series to Daniel Ingram for Martha Speaks – Opera Contest - Maestro Martha”
• Best Music Video to Dan Mangan for “Road Regrets” - Producers: Jon Busby, Jesse Davidge, Marc Demers
The LEO Awards offer an excellent opportunity for SOCAN members who work in film and television to celebrate their accomplishments. Other SOCAN members in attendance included Peter Allen, Hal Foxton Beckett, Dennis Burke, Graeme Coleman and Daniel Seguin. SOCAN staff in attendance – who cheered on the nominees and congratulated the winners – included Lynn Ross, Pat Mueller, Sara Pavilionis and Michelle Dubuc.
