Jannick Brière receives SOCAN Best Song Award at Magog competition

Jannick Brière, winner of the SOCAN Best Song Award, performed at the 4th and final gala event of the 2009 Découvertes de la chanson de Magog competition.

Jannick Brière, a singer-songwriter from Gatineau, Quebec, won the $1,000 SOCAN Best Song Award at the 13th annual Découvertes de la chanson de Magog on Oct. 11 in Quebec’s Eastern Townships. She received her award from this year’s festival spokesperson, Alexandre Poulin, for her song "Découvre-moi." During the week leading up to the event’s four gala presentations, this year’s 32 semi-finalists worked with three professional coaches, received personal training, took part in jam sessions and a workshop/conference, and were given an opportunity to work in a professional studio.


All performances in the 2009 competition, which included youth and adult components, were staged at the Vieux Clocher, Magog’s flagship venue
