Submit now to "Meatless Music 4 Mondays" song contest
SOCAN members and other Canadian musicians have until July 31, 2010, to submit a health-conscious song (including lyrics) to a "Meatless Music 4 Mondays" contest presented by non-profit organization Vigour Projects.
Entrants are invited to submit a song with lyrics that promote a heart-healthy lifestyle. The song can be in any genre, doesn't need to be broadcast quality, and may be funny, serious, or heartfelt; the only rule is that songwriters must be creative. Each song submission costs $5, the majority of which will be donated to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada, and the remainder of which will cover the costs of the judging panel.
The writer of the prize-winning song will receive a pair of tickets to one of Paul McCartney’s concerts at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto on Sunday, Aug. 8, 2010, or Monday, Aug. 9, 2010; free recording studio time at Number 9 Audio in Toronto; and the honour of having the song become the official "Meatless Music 4 Mondays" theme song.
