The Sam Roberts Band have played New Music West before. Now you can apply to play there in 2011.

Emerging SOCAN members and other musicians are invited to apply now for a showcase at the 2011 edition of New Music West (NMW), to be held July 21-23 in Edmonton (marking the first time that the event will take place outside Vancouver). Applications to perform are now being accepted via SonicBids and by mail. Visit the NMW website for details.

NMW provides an opportunity for new artists and bands to showcase their talents and gain exposure to new fans, industry and radio. Several radio stations are sponsoring the event, and will be looking at the showcasing bands to spot the future stars from across Western Canada and beyond. NMW will showcase approximately 30 of the most promising new live music artists, and will feature an industry development day for people seeking insight into a career in music.

Past Performers include Sam Roberts, The Flaming Lips, Frank Black, Hot Hot Heat, Matthew Good, Run-DMC, Metric, My Morning Jacket, Midnight Oil, The Trews, and Stars, among others. The conference has featured sessions with top industry professionals and major artists, including Gene Simmons, Marilyn Manson, Chad Kroeger, Perry Farrell, Raine Maida, Terry McBride (Nettwerk) and Jason Miller (House Of Blues).
