SOCAN was pleased to honour Nickelback producer and co-writer Joey Moi with two No. 1 Song Awards for the hits “Something in Your Mouth” and "Gotta Be Somebody," which reached the top spot on Billboard magazine's Hot Mainstream Rock chart on March 7, 2009, and the Nielsen BDS Top 100 All Format chart on Nov. 3, 2008, respectively. The latter song also reached No. 1 on the Nielsen BDS Hot Adult Contemporary chart on Nov. 17, 2008.

SOCAN’s Lynn Ross presented Moi with two No. 1 Award plaques prior to a celebratory dinner on Sept. 22, 2009, at Gotham Steakhouse in Vancouver.

“Something in Your Mouth” was co-written by Moi, Robert "Mutt" Lange (PRS) and Nickelback's Chad Kroeger, and is published by Arm Your Dillo Publishing Inc, Warner Tamerlane Publishing Co. (BMI), and Out Of Pocket Production Ltd. (N/A). " Gotta Be Somebody" was co-written by Moi, Kroeger and his Nickelback bandmate, Ryan Peake, and is also published by Arm Your Dillo and Warner Tamerlane, along with Zero G Music Inc.

This is the first time that producer Moi is being awarded as a songwriter. Moi said he was "stoked" about the honour, and added that he would hang the two awards on his wall as soon as he got home from the dinner.
