Pandaléon member Frédéric Levac won the $1,000 SOCAN Best Song Award for his song “Taché” as part of the 2011 Ontario Pop competition final, held June 4 at The Gladstone in Ottawa. SOCAN member Paul Demers presented the award. Pandaléon also received the Prix du Festival Franco-ontarien and the Prix de la Première Chaîne de Radio-Canada Ottawa-Gatineau, and shared the Prix réseau national des galas de la chanson with Mary-Eve Fortier. This last award provides Pandaléon with a spot in the semi-finals of the next Granby International Song Festival, where they will represent Ontario.
This year’s Ontario Pop spokesperson, Stef Paquette, performed excerpts from his new album Le salut de l'arrière pays.
Relationship Specialist Stéphanie Falco, from the Montreal SOCAN office, hosted a workshop on Monday, May 30, as part of the training provided to all 2011 Ontario Pop contestants.
