Bastien Vaultier, a French-born Ontario resident, was presented with a SOCAN Best Song Award June 6 as part of the 2009 Ontario Pop competition finals, held in the Shenkman Arts Centre in Orléans, Ont. The young singer-songwriter received the $1,000 award from the 2009 event spokesperson, Andrea Lindsay, for his song "J’en suis revenu," for which he also won the Radio-Canada Première Chaîne Award.
SOCAN Relationship Specialist Stéphanie Falco, from the Montreal office, presented two information workshops during the Ontario Pop weekend. On June 5, she explained the benefits of a SOCAN membership to the showcase competition finalists and, the next day, she presented a SOCAN information session to participants at the APCM (Association des professionnels de la chanson et de la musique) Annual General Meeting. Falco also took part in the finals jury, and was impressed with what she saw and heard.
The Ontario Pop competition showcases Franco-Ontarian musical excellence and talent. For more information, please visit the website of the event sponsor, the APCM.
