The Matinee win SOCAN-sponsored songwriting challenge at Peak Perfromance Project boot camp

The Matinee penned the song “The Sinking Of The Greenhill Park,” which won the SOCAN-sponsored songwriting challenge at 2011 Peak Performance Project boot camp.

The Matinee's won a SOCAN-sponsored songwriting challenge to write a song inspired by Vancouver to celebrate the city's 125th anniversary, as part of the Peak Performance Project boot camp, held Aug. 26 - Sept. 2 at Rockridge Canyon in Princeton, B.C. Out of the 20 artists taking part this year. The Matinee's had the winning song with “The Sinking Of The Greenhill Park.” Lindsay Bryan came in second place and Maurice came in third.

During the boot camp, SOCAN's Lynn Ross conducted four SOCAN info sessions tailored to the artists, offering tips on how to maximize their royalties.

The Peak Performance Project is a professional development program to help new and emerging artists in British Columbia create careers in the music industry. Sponsored by Vancouver radio station 100.5 The Peak, the project is designed to educate, promote, develop and launch the careers of some of the province’s up-and-coming artists.
