SOCAN licensees: How to keep your account up to date during a postal strike

During the postal workers' strike, the delivery of your SOCAN reports and payments mailed to SOCAN may be delayed or disrupted. However, you are still responsible for keeping your SOCAN licence fees and account up to date.

SOCAN has different services available to you to help manage your account during any disruption.

We encourage you to sign up for an eSOCAN account to take advantage of our paperless online reporting and payment feature of the website. Do l have to pay my SOCAN licence fees during the postal strike?
In the event of a postal disruption, licensees are responsible for keeping their accounts current.

How can I obtain my balance or amount owing on my SOCAN account?
There are a number of ways to obtain your balance or amount owing on your account:
• Call us at 1-866-944-6223 to confirm your balance.
• Contact your Account Manager to request that your statement be e-mailed or faxed directly to you.

How can I pay my SOCAN licence fees during the postal strike?
There are a number of options for bill payment. Call your Account Manager at 1-866-944-6223 to find out more about:
Credit card payment (Visa, MasterCard, and American Express)*: online via eSOCAN or by phone with your Account Manager;
EFT* payment (call us for more information);
• Financial institution payments (online or telephone banking): ensure that you enter your 12-digit account number as shown on your Statement/Invoice. Example: 00012345-00-00;

What should be included with a payment if a cheque is dropped off at one of SOCAN’s locations?
Please include your name, address, phone number and 12-digit account number with any cheque payment.

Will I receive a copy of my bill after a postal strike is over?
Yes. We'll mail you a copy of your monthly statement once the postal strike is done.
