SOCAN co-sponsors Radio Star New Songwriters Workshop Tour

SOCAN is co-sponsoring the Radio Star New Songwriters Workshop Tour, providing educational sessions at all of the 11 workshops for new songwriters to be held across Canada from Sept. 7 through Oct. 2, 2011. These workshops are free to attendees, but everyone wishing to attend must register.

The schedule of workshops is as follows:

Wednesday, Sept. 7 - Winnipeg, MB, The Park Theatre
Thursday, Sept. 8 - Regina, SK, Long & McQuade
SOCAN’s Terry O'Brien will lead the SOCAN info sessions at the above two events, and singer-songwriter Steve Wilkinson, as well as Amy Eligh of Casablanca Media Publishing, will also participate in both.

Thursday Sept. 15 - Saint John, NB, Saint John Arts Centre
Saturday Sept. 17 - Halifax, NS, The Music Room
Sunday Sept. 18 - St. John’s, NL – Masonic Temple
SOCAN’s Rodney Murphy will lead the SOCAN info sessions at the above three events, while Barbara Sedun of EMI Music Publishing Canada and ASCAP Vice-President Ralph Murphy will also participate in all three.

Thursday Sept. 22 - Edmonton, AB , Axe Music
Saturday Sept. 24 - Calgary, AB, Axe Music
Sunday Sept. 25 - Vancouver, BC, Tom Lee Music Hall

Thursday Sept. 29 - Ottawa, ON, Mayfair Theatre
Saturday, Oct. 1 - Montreal, QC, Tanna Schulich Hall, McGill
Sunday Oct. 2 - Toronto, ON, Metalworks Studios
SOCAN’s Stéphanie Falco will lead the SOCAN info sessions in Ottawa and Montreal, while SOCAN's Rodney Murphy will do the same in Toronto. Dan Hill and Jodie Ferneyhough will participate in all three events.
