SOCAN was pleased to honour Rob Wells for co-writing the hit song “Comme Avant,” which topped Quebec's Francophone Palmarès BDS on Feb. 21, 2011.

SOCAN President Earl Rosen presented the No. 1 Award plaque on June 29, 2011, at Sassafraz restaurant in Toronto's downtown Yorkville district. The song's Francophone co-writers, Fred St.-Gelais and Marie-Mai (who is also the performer of the song), will be honoured at a later date in Montreal.

“Comme Avant” is co-published by Wells' own publishing company, Imagine This Inc.; Sony ATV Music, represented at the event by Gary Furniss (who is also a SOCAN board member); and Francophone co-publishers Éditions Bloc Notes, Éditions Groupe Archambault and Productions J inc., who will also be honoured later this year in Montreal.

Guests included notable SOCAN members and Wells' professional songwriting colleagues Marc Jordan, Amy Sky and Christopher Ward, as well as members of his music industry team, family and friends. SOCAN's Jason Belo, Ted Seto, Vicki Walters, and CEO Eric Baptiste also attended the presentation.
