SOCAN was on the scene at the 12th annual Tremplin de Dégelis, a pop music and comedy festival held May 17-21, 2011, in the Lower St. Lawrence area. Training & Industry Relations Specialist Stephanie Falco, from the Montreal SOCAN office, hosted information workshops for contestants May 20-21, while SOCAN member Suzanne Gagnon presented
Ben Sasseville with the $1,000 SOCAN Best Song Award for “Voleur de maman.” This year’s festival spokesperson was the popular singer-songwriter Martine St-Clair.

Falco also sat on the competition jury with SOCAN members Marie Denise Pelletier, Gagnon and Samuel Busque, as well as Philippe Beaulieu and Gabriel Anctil. This year’s top winner in the singer-songwriter category was Quebec City’s Cynthia Veilleux. For more information on the festival, please visit the Dégelis website.
