Corey Hart to be celebrated at 2016 Canada’s Walk of Fame gala
Corey Hart, one of Canada's most successful singer-songwriters, is among the six honourees who'll be inducted into Canada’s Walk of Fame on Oct. 6, 2016, at Toronto’s Sony Centre for the Performing Arts.
Hart has earned seven SOCAN Awards, and sold more than 16 million records worldwide. He’s amassed nine consecutive U.S. Billboard Top 40 hits, while scoring 30 Top 40 singles in Canada, Including 11 Top 10s. His sophomore album, Boy in the Box, achieved Diamond status certification (more than a million domestic sales) faster than any other Canadian artist in history. It spawned four hit singles, lead by “Never Surrender,” which spent nine weeks at No. 1 in Canada, winning Single of the Year at the JUNO Awards. Another one of those hits, "Sunglasses at Night," has been covered more than 500 times.
At the same Canada’s Walk of Fame ceremony, the SOCAN-, JUNO-, and Canadian Country Music Award-winning singer-songwriter Brett Kissel will receive the Walk of Fame’s 2016 Allan Slaight Honour, which recognizes young, inspirational Canadians who’ve achieved international success in the music industry.

SOCAN members previously inducted into Canada’s Walk of Fame include Michael Bublé, Rush, Sarah McLachlan, Blue Rodeo, The Tragically Hip, Joni Mitchell, Gordon Lightfoot, Nickelback, and k.d. lang.
