Deric Ruttan wins SOCAN songwriter honour at 2017 Country Music Association of Ontario Awards

SOCAN A&R Co-Ordinator Andreas Rizek presented Deric Ruttan with the SOCAN-sponsored Songwriter of the Year honour at the 2017 Country Music Association of Ontario (CMAO) Awards, held June 11, 2017, at Centennial Hall in London, Ontario.

Ruttan earned the award for co-writing “Came Here to Forget” – a No. 1 hit for Blake Shelton – with his fellow professional Nashville songwriter Craig Wiseman.

The big winner of the night was Meghan Patrick, who took home the trophies for Album, Female Artist, Music Video, and Rising Star of the Year. Other award winners included Tim Hicks (Male Artist of the Year), Cold Creek County (Group/Duo of the year) and the James Barker Band (Fans' Choice Award).
