For the twelfth consecutive year, Le Gala de la Fondation SPACQ (Société professionnelle des auteurs et des compositeurs du Québec) awarded 14 songwriters, composers and artists during its annual granting ceremony. Ten $10,000 grants and four $5,000 grants were presented to them on Sept. 25, 2017, at the National Bank headquarters. For a ninth straight year, the gala was hosted by Louise Forestier, while SOCAN CEO, Eric Baptiste and Chief of Québec Affairs Geneviève Côté were in attendance.

“Twelve years already!” said Diane Juster, President of Fondation SPACQ. “Year after year, it’s always with renewed pleasure that the Fondation SPACQ celebrates the accomplishments of songwriters and composers – while gathering not only those creators, but businesspeople, broadcasters, and other major players of our music ecosystem. The music industry is constantly evolving, and is undergoing profound changes. It is therefore vital to continue defending the interests of songwriters and composers, to ensure that their work conditions and standards of living keep improving. Thanks to our partners’ continued commitment, Fondation SPACQ is able to shine a light on, and recognize, the tremendous talent of our creators.”
