SOCAN member Vincent Roberge, who now goes by the name Les Louanges, has won the Chanson coup de cœur SOCAN Award given to the best song performed during the semi-finals of the 2017 Francouvertes contest. On Apr. 19, 2017, following three nights devoted to the semi-finals, held at Montréal’s Lion d’Or, SOCAN A&R executive Guillaume Moffet handed Roberge a $1,000 cash prize for the song “Encéphaline,” which he wrote and performed.

We now know who the three finalists of the Francouvertes are: Les Louanges, Lydia Képinski and Laurence-Anne are tasked with charming the jury, and the audience, during the final evening of the 2017 Francouvertes, on May 8 at Club Soda. That night, contest spokespersons Philippe Brach and Rosie Valland will also perform and break in new songs, as did other guest artists in the “J’aime mes ex” series, presented by SOCAN during both the preliminary round and semi-finals.

As is customary, the final will see several prizes awarded to the finalists: concerts, studio time, cash prizes, and promotional and professional support. The winner will walk away with a $10,000 cash prize from SiriusXM prize, which sponsors the event and the final show, as well as an impressive list of other prizes.

Visit the Francouvertes website for all the details on the prizes that were given out during the semi-finals.
