Ma première Place des Arts: SOCAN Song Contest

October 24, 2017

For a second year running, SOCAN and APEM (L'Association des professionnels de l'édition musicale) have partnered with SACEF (Société pour l’avancement de la chanson d’expression française) to present a songwriting contest where the artists participating in the Ma première Place des Arts competition and songwriter members will meet through songs that each participant will integrate to their repertoire during the 24th edition of Ma première Place des Arts.

A cash prize will be shared by the singer ($500) and the creator(s) ($1,000) of the song chosen by a SOCAN jury. The prize will be awarded during the contest finals on May 16, 2018.

You can submit your original song – any exclusively Francophone song created in the last three years that has never been recorded, sung or commercialized by anyone – by filling out the form available (in French only) at mppda.ca before Nov. 17, 2017, at 11:59 p.m. ET.

For more than 24 years, SACEF has supported songwriters, composers and singers of Francophone music, notably through its Ma première Place des Arts contest. It was there that the careers of such famous artists as Nicola Ciccone, Corneille, Ima, Lynda Thalie, Philippe Brach, Peter Peter, Moran, Klô Plegag, Alexandre Désilets, and many more, took off.
