Marie-Claire Cronier receives SOCAN Award at 2012 Ontario POP

Marie-Claire Cronier received the $1,000 SOCAN Best Song Award for her song “Le carrosse dans le fossé” (“The Carriage in the Ditch”) from SOCAN member Janie Renée Myner as part of the 2012 Ontario Pop competition final, held in Laurentian University’s Alphonse Raymond Auditorium in Sudbury. Cronier was honoured in two additional categories during the June 21 awards presentation, which featured emerging singer-songwriters and included performances by guest artists Pandaléon and Mary-Ève Fortier.  
 
The Ontario POP competition, which showcasies Franco-Ontarian songwriting excellence and talent, has served as a springboard for the careers of such well-known artists as Damien Robitaille, Véronic DiCaire and Chuck Labelle.
