Marie-Pierre Arthur wins 2012 Félix Leclerc Award

Singer-songwriter and SOCAN member Marie-Pierre Arthur has won the 2012 Quebec component of the Prix Félix-Leclerc de la Chanson, an award created in 1996 “to promote creation among young singer-songwriters and foster the production and distribution of Francophone pop music.” She received her prize on June 9, 2012, as part of the FrancoFolies de Montréal Festival.

Previous Félix Leclerc Award winners include SOCAN members Bernard Adamus (2011), Damien Robitaille (2010), Alexandre Désilets (2009), Catherine Major (2008) and Thomas Hellman (2007). The other artists/groups in the same category for the 2012 competition were SOCAN members Fanny Bloom, Francis Faubert, David Giguère, Jimmy Hunt, Lisa LeBlanc, Salomé Leclerc, Patrice Michaud, Monogrenade and Karim Ouellet.
