Pick the finalists of the 33rd Gémeaux Awards

February 6, 2018

The Académie canadienne du cinéma et de la télévision au Québec launched, on Jan. 9, 2018, the submission period for the 33rd annual Gémeaux awards, open to TV and digital productions aired between May 1, 2017, and April 30, 2018. This year, the Academy has updated its finalist selection process, and wants SOCAN members to get involved and deploy their expertise.

Academy members certified in a technical trade, and in good standing by March 1, 2018, will be asked to select the finalists in their respective categories – sound, music, research, photography, editing, set decoration, costume creation, makeup and hair, casting, and graphics. Thanks to this trade-based, specialized vote, the experts in each branch can contribute to their trade even further. Viewing of the submitted productions and individual voting will be done exclusively via the Academy’s digital platform. The selection process will begin in early March and continue until late May.

This exclusive privilege reserved for Academy members is an opportunity for all professionals of a technical trade to participate in the nomination process. Such a specialized voting process allows for a wide range of specialists to participate, while involving active industry players.

A member application form is available on the Academy website. You’ll find application promotions for better rates, as well as learn more about the competition, at academie.ca/prixgemeaux.

The 33rd annual Gémeaux Awards Gala will be broadcast on ICI Radio-Canada Télé on Sunday, Sept. 16, 2018. For more information, please contact Samuel Bélisle, coordinator of the Gémeaux awards at sbelisle@academie.ca, or by phone at (514) 849-7448, Ext. 28.
