Notoriously reclusive R&B singer-songwriter Allan Rayman made a rare public appearance in order to accept  a SOCAN No. 1 Song Award for “13,” which scaled the peak of the CBC Radio 2 Top 20 chart on March 30, 2017. SOCAN similarly awarded his co-writers on the song, Spencer “Moose” Muscio and Jessy Aarons.

SOCAN A&R Co-Ordinator Andreas Rizek presented the award on May 18, 2017, during a congratulatory evening dinner at Imanashi Japanese Kitchen, in the West end of downtown Toronto.

It takes an entire crew to make the kind of “luck” that takes a song to the top of the charts, so also attending were managers Logan Kearns, Adam Ehrlich and Miranda Bonavia of 512 Productions Inc.; Shawn Marino and Fraser McKenzie of record company Universal Music Canada; entertainment lawyer Sander Shalinsky of Shalinsky & Company LLP; Angeline Tetteh-Wayoe of CBC Radio 2; and SOCAN A&R Administrator Melissa Cameron.

SOCAN salutes the entire Allan Rayman team on this major accomplishment!

There’s no official video for the song; below is an acoustic performance of it, taped at CBC Studios in Toronto.
