Register now for the 2014 World Acadian Congress theme song writing contest

May 15, 2012

Songwriters are invited to register for the theme song writing competition of the next Congrès mondial acadien (CMA), which will be held Aug. 8-24, 2014, in the three geographic regions: Victoria, Restigouche and Madawaska in New Brunswick; Aroostook County in Maine; and Témiscouata in Quebec. For more information on this multi-locale event, please visit the bilingual CMA website.

The winning song must reflect the main theme of the 2014 event, which is a positive vision of Acadia’s place in the world, while stressing the Congress ideals of pride, youth, sustainable development, multiculturalism and hospitality. Widely distributed, and destined to become a rallying cry for the 2014 festivities, the new CMA anthem must be both current and catchy in order to appeal to a mainstream audience. It must also be written in French.

The 2014 CMA theme song will play on all radio networks and on the internet, and be used during all CMA promotional events during the period leading up to the Congress. It will also be performed onstage at one the Festival’s major concerts.

The deadline for submissions is Sept. 15, 2012. All demo entries will be assessed by a jury of professionals under the direction of CMA 2014 spokesperson Roch Voisine. The winner will be presented with a $2,500 cash prize.

Submissions must be sent by e-mail in MP3 format along with a CD of the song sent by mail to the 2014 Congress General Manager, Léo-Paul Charest, at the following address:
